When a Christian sins and confesses it, in God’s sight, it is like he never sinned at all. The Blood of Christ both forgives and cleanses away all sin. To continue to ask God’s forgiveness for the same sins over and over again, I am sure grieves Him. Like Joseph, when his already forgiven brothers asked him to forgive them a second time, “Joseph wept.”
But, praise His name, it goes even deeper than that. Once you acknowledge and repent of your sin, it is just as though you were newly formed. Like Adam, when created a new, he had no previous history. And a renewed Christian has no past history of sins. So when you pray repeatedly, asking for forgiveness for the same sins, like the gospel songs says, God asks, “What sins are you talking about?
Arise, my soul, arise
Shake off your guilty fears
The bleeding sacrifice
On my behalf appears
Before the throne my surety stands
Before the throne my surety stands
My name is written on His hands.
